i-bolts (1) i-Bolts

The i-Bolt® Technology Technology takes the end users' fasteners and applies a permanent 2-D transducer (only 50 microns thick) at the top or bottom of each bolt. The form, fit or function of the fastener is not affected or changed. Unlike conventional ultrasonic, the technology does not require parallel surfaces and is independent on common transducer attachment procedures. Each bolt type and joint is first ultrasonically qualified by LCT.

The end user fills out an Application Information Form (AIF) for each joint/bolt type. LCT replicates the end user's joint, generates the ultrasonic parameters and stores the ultrasonic signatures (including the zero load reading) of each individual bolt against their respective unique ID in the barcode embedded in the transducer.

The bolts go through a development qualification process which is a non-recurring engineering activity that includes the i-Bolt design and excitation optimization, calibration and testing throughout the measurement range in terms of joint length, bolt bending conditions and measurement temperature range. Once a joint/bolt type is qualified, the process does not need to be repeated for additional orders of the same bolt type.

The transducer applied is permanent and enables load inspections and tightening throughout the life of the joint at any time with near perfect repeatability.

LoadMaster 1000

LoadMaster® 1000

The LoadMaster® 1000 is a rugged full featured i-Bolt load measure system for inspecting bolt load. This portable IP66 sealed unit can be hot-sync'd with a PC for bi-directional data transfer via a USB, Bluetooth, wireless LAN or 3G interface. PC software provides full data display and analysis of inspection data and assembly tightening curves. The LoadMaster® 1000 includes a micro i-Probe, integrated calibration bolt, temperature probe and LoadMaster® DataManager PC software.

LoadMaster® 2000

The LoadMaster® 2000 is a single channel load measurement module for continuous monitoring of load in an i-Bolt through a digital or analog output at rates of up to 500 readings per second. The modules can be stacked together for monitoring a number of i-Bolts simultaneously. The LoadMaster® 2000 includes a load measurement probe with embedded high speed thermistor.

LoadMaster® 2500

The LoadMaster® 2500 (LM2500) is a single-channel ultrasonic module designed to measure load on individual spindles for existing multi-spindle assembly systems. There is no limit on the number of spindles, and it is applicable to most major brands and tool manufacturers.

When used with existing tool controllers, it connects and communicates without affecting their current functionality. It allows the customer to switch between Torque or Torque/Angle control and Load control, or just to monitor Load during the current tightening methodology. ± 3% installed load accuracy is achieved independent of operator and tool brand.

Every spindle is equipped with a spring-loaded contact pin in their respective drives. This provides contact between the transducer on the bolt and the LoadMaster® 2500. Spindle modification is included with the LoadMaster® 2500.

The LoadMaster® 3600 is an i-Bolt® load measurement system for inspecting bolt load or measuring and controlling load during assembly. This unit comes with a 1- year warranty and software upgrades, includes an i-Probe®, integrated calibration bolt and temperature probe. The LoadMaster® 3600 is available (supplied) with a LoadMaster® DataManager® laptop PC.
